Good News – Bad News

The good news…

Paddy has been working hard towards his PADI Staff Instructor rating and should be recognised for his great achievement – Congratulations Paddy!

He can now use his knowledge and experience to teach others how to teach others to dive.

The bad news…

Paddy ihas left us and headed overseas on that great adventure known as the OE!

We met Paddy back in 2011 when he joined our tertiary Diploma Program as a diver. He worked his way up through the PADI system meeting many of our divers along the way and helping to run club events such as the Petone Wharf Clean Up’s.

Paddy passed his Instructor Examination in November 2011 and immediately started teaching his first Open Water Course alongside Brian. He then worked with us part time as he taught many of you how to dive and helped improve your skills along the way.

A year later he joined the shop full time in November 2012 and he continued to teach our customers to become divers including running the tertiary dive course through to the Dive Master level, assisting in the shop,  helping both Brian and Tomo in the workshop and generally doing everything he could to lend a hand – bar doing the dishes!

Paddy has continued to be a big part of our club as he both ran and attended many of the dives and other activities we hold each year. After getting his drysuit he became infamous for his Tiger Onesie which has been seen on 100’s of dives and made its way onto cakes and stamps.

Dive & Ski HQ will not be the same without him and I am sure he will be missed by many us but we wish him all the best as he travels the world with Sam and has many more amazing adventures.

He has promised to keep in touch and share (ie: gloat about) his future dive experiences with us – we will hold him to that and look forward to see him on his return in the years to come.
