PADI Women’s Dive Day 2016

Women's Dive Day

It may be the middle of winter but that didn’t stop our female club divers getting together and enjoying a dive at Mahanga Bay to celebrate this worldwide event.

It was a lovely day with no wind (a shock to our system) and lots of sunshine as we prepared for our dive. This was a new site for everyone, so a great opportunity to go exploring with the old mussel farm and a car wreck – both with lots of marine life around. What was even better was seeing all the various creatures that had been mentioned in the briefing. These included seahorses, baby cray, sole, spotties and masking crabs.

While not seen underwater we did see an octopus escaping some of the debris we had collected along the way. After a photo op he was returned to the sea.

No Women’s event is complete without chocolate and the post dive hot chocolates and chocolate fish went down a treat.

We are looking forward to next year’s event.
