On Saturday the 1st of August 2015, we celebrated Dive & Ski HQ’s 10th Birthday!
The event was held at Princess bay on Wellingtons South Coast. The conditions were near perfect with moderate Northerly winds, half metre swells and even a bit of sunshine! We had a good turnout with about 14 people joining us on the birthday dive, and another 10 who joined us on land to celebrate this event in true birthday style, with games and cake! Everyone diving was pleasantly greeted with a BBQ back on land, then after playing some pass the parcel and scoffing birthday cake everyone gathered round for Claire’s chocolate game, eating chocolate has never been so difficult! Although it made for some hilarious photos.
Dive conditions on the day weren’t too shabby either with 4-5 meters visibility and a light surge, we managed to spot plenty of Blue Cod, Spotted Wrasse, Banded Wrasse with a few Butterfish and Scarlet Wrasse also making an appearance. A few of the buddy teams were lucky enough to see several Octopus! showing off their colour changing camouflage for the camera. Divers of all experience joined in the birthday dive with ranging from closed circuit rebreather divers to Rachel’s lucky group of open water students who got to join in the fun!
