Dive HQ’s Monthly Review – July

Dive Club Wellington Updates

Winter is here but our divers have still been busy training and of course diving. Along with our PADI Open Water & Advanced Open Water Courses we have certified divers in Drysuit, Sidemount, Rescue & Enriched Air Nitrox courses.

Our Course Director Claire was recognised for 20 years representing PADI!

With 5 dives a week, we are Wellington’s most active dive club and this month is no exception, as well as our standard weekly dives we have the following events scheduled – contact us for more information & to get involved.
Club Quiz Night – Tuesday 9th July at the Sprig & Fern Petone from 6:30pm
Women’s Day Pool Dive – Wednesday 17th July at Huia Pool from 6:15pm
Women’s Dive Day Club Dive – Saturday 20th July  – 9:45am at the beach
Scallop Dive & BBQ – Sunday 21st July – 9:45am at the beach

Dive Club Trips

We were very lucky to visit the Coromandel over King’s Birthday Weekend with a 3 day liveaboard adventure aboard the MV Whai. Eat – Sleep – Dive is often the motto of a liveaboard and we certainly did plenty of diving with great conditions, more fish than you can imagine,17 degrees and 15m+ visibility.
Read what one diver thought of our trip & why she is keen to return next year.

Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) Specialty

Using Nitrox can extend your bottom time, reduce your surface intervals, increase your safety margins over multi dive / multiday trips & reduce fatigue.

Our divers are busy preparing for future holidays by completing the Enriched Air Diver Specialty practical session – analysing the cylinder’s oxygen content, calculating maximum depths & setting their computers.

We have another EANx course running on Monday 22nd of July.

PADI Dive Professional Training

Have you ever considered taking your diving to the next level with our PADI Divemaster or Instructor training? Whether you want to work in the industry and share your passion for diving with others or you want to improve skills and knowledge we have the training options to suit.

We have an information evening on Wednesday 24th of July from 6pm. We will cover the different roles and opportunities you may have as a PADI Professional and what opportunities exist both here and around the world. Divemaster courses start each month and we have a part time and full time Instructor course starting from September with the Instructor examinations here in October.
